ACTIVE INGEDIENTS
THAT WORK IN FACE CREAMS
The best way to take care of
your skin is to start young. The effects of aging on skin
doesn’t happen overnight it actually starts right after
you’re born.
Actually, you could even argue that your skin begins to
‘age’ the moment it is formed inside the womb, but we will not
spilt hairs.
It might seem we age all of a sudden but for most of us the
visible effects of aging skin are the result of where we live,
how we live our life and what we put into our body's and that
has been happening for as long as you have been alive.
The heavily marketed
anti-aging creams which are advertised on television or in
magazines, with the promise of making you the consumer
look younger and reducing visible wrinkles on the
skin.
There are a number of active ingredients that work in face
creams. With some manufacturers adopting the natural route,
only using precious essential oils, natural botanicals and the
finest natural ingredients from around the world.
So what do they do, some will hydrate, others will
exfoliate, while a great many say they will rejuvenate. So in
this sea of anti aging skin care products look for the ones
that are going to be appropriate for the level of help your
skin requires.
Traditionally, the anti aging
creams have been aimed at women, but more and more
company's are promoting products specifically towards
men.
This change may be to do with the fact we are all more aware
of what happens to us then any other generations were. This
generation and the societies we live in focuses much more on
the younger looks, and that includes men as well.
Many of the retail chains will offer products that just have
a lot of ingredients that are filler ingredients and harmful
chemicals. Some creams will just simply moisturize your skin
without the advanced level of restoration it needs.
To get the right creams for you may have to find a product
that has a high level of antioxidant properties.
One of the important vitamin sources in our cells is called
Coenzyme Q10.
Ok as they say here come the science bit.....As we age, the
enzyme decreases. This in turn leads to less antioxidant's and
the inability to reproduce defensive energy.
Simply put, our
bodies need these vital substances to create skin that is
healthy and vivacious. So using anti aging skin care
products can help when the cells in your body fall
short.
There is are so many cosmetic companies who are finding new
and interesting ways to help you to nourish your skin, such as
creams that contain Coenzyme Q10.
Be careful how you read the ingredients as some only have a
small percentage in their products. You need to choose products
that have advanced levels of the active CoQ10 listed on their
packaging.
Don't just go for
products that offer one treatment for ones that have a
range of products. In your skin care regime you should
have products that cleanse your skin, tone, eye creams,
body lotions, face mask. These are just a few of the
products you can get so shop around.
However old you are, it is
never too soon or too late to be worried about the effects
of aging on the skin or to start your skin care
regime.
What causes skin to age is a few different things, but the
major visible reason for aging skin comes down to damage done
to the elastic proteins your skin has to keep it tight.
Anti-aging creams do and don't work. There must be thousands
of anti-aging creams on the market today. If you tryed most of
these anti-aging skin products most would just produce the
appearance of reduced wrinkles.
As of now there are not any
known anti-aging creams that will eliminate wrinkles or
even permanently reverse the effects of aging to your
skin. So are we wasting our money?
There are many things anti-aging creams some will remove
layers of dead skin, hydrateing the lower layers, which in turn
will give them a plumper and fuller look. Which helps to
reduced the appearance of wrinkles.
These wrinkles will not permanently be removed, and they
would come back if you discontinued the use of the cream.
Keeping up the wrinkle free look can be quite expensive as
most of the anti aging creams are not cheap. You can achieve a
the same effect of the fuller, plumper skin look even by using
the less expensive creams.
LIST OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS THAT WORK
IN FACE CREAMS
The scientifically tested and proven anti-aging cream
ingredients are vitamin C , E, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid
(AHA).
These little ingredients have been proven to reduce the
appearance of wrinkles, but there are other ingredients that
will produce similar effects.
Ok some other common ingredients in your
anti-aging product could BHA or Beta-Hydroxy Salicylic Acid and
it does the same for our skin.
Coenzyme Q10 - We
have said how coenzyme Q10 and Ubiquinone is used to help
prevent and repair damage done by the sun. Not only will it
help to prevent and repair the skin, it will also encourage new
cell growth.
Collagen
- Is
another ingredient found in your anti-aging product, it will
help to promote skin hydration, which will help to make your
look and feel plumper, firmer, and help to reduce those fine
lines and wrinkles.
Vitamins C,E,K
- We said about vitamins and these
over the counter products can help with aging such as Vitamin
C, E, and K.
Vitamin
C - or ascorbic acid has been
clinically proven to help increase the collagen production. It
is known for its healing and antioxidant properties, which can
help to reduce scaring.
Vitamin E
- has also been clinically proven to be
an effective antioxidant. It will help to improve our skin's
moisture, again vitamin E has been known to accelerate wound
healing and helps the functioning of the immune system.
Foods that are a good souce of vitamin E are oils such as
soya, corn and olive oil. Nuts and seeds, and wheatgerm (found
in cereals and cereal products).
Vitamin D
- Is manufactured in the skin following
direct exposure to sunlight. Many studies show that Vitamin D
production decreases in older people and in those who are
housebound. Vitamin D is needed by the body to absorb calcium,
which makes your bones stronger and helps prevent factures.
Foods rich in vitamin D are oily fish and eggs. Other food
sources include fortified foods such as margarine, breakfast
cereals and powdered milk.
Vitamin K
- is popular among eye care products. It
is also clinically proven to reduce dark circles around the
eyes and treats spider veins. Vitamin K is also proven to be
effective in treating broken capillaries and bruising.
Foods rich in vitamin K are your green leafy vegetables such
as broccoli and spinach, and in vegetable oils and cereals.
We have talked about some of these ingredients above but
theres more to add.
Alpha Hydroxy Acid
- Alpha Hydroxy Acid, also known as
AHA, is a common component of anti-aging creams. There are
actually a variety of these acids which are known as glycolic
acids, lactic acids and citric acids.
The glycolic acids are made from sugar cane and are
reportedly the best type of AHA. The lactic acid comes from
milk and is perfect for sensitive skin, while the Citric acids
are like astringents from apples, pears and grapes.
AHA - Is
used in a variety of beauty care products and treatments
including chemical peels. The use of AHA is safe when the
recommended dosage is adhered to. However, it can cause slight
burning, irritation and redness, but these are only temporary
side effects, normally shown on people with sensitive skin.
Retinol
- Is associated with the
retinoid chemical compound family and the animal form of
Vitamin A. Vitamin A is crucial in the anti aging process
because it helps the skin to create new cells, rejuvenating the
collagen and providing a fuller, healthy set of skin.
Retinol can be found in a variety of skin care products such
as in Pond's age defying cleansing towelettes, Neutrogena's age
fighting moisturizers, Sally Hansen Age Correct and the RoC
series.
Kinetin
- Is
the leading ingredient in many anti-aging creams. Kinetin
has the ability to perform cell division and naturally
resides in human skin cells. As long as cells divide,
aging is slowed because the skin can reproduce new cells
and at a more rapid pace.
However, when the cell loses its capability to split,
wrinkles will appear. With the use of kinetin delivered through
anti-aging creams, cells are able to continue splitting.
Kinetin can be found in the Kinerase anti aging products which
have a variety of face and body lotions, eye creams and skin
treatments.
The ingredients that reside in anti aging creams are
numerous. AHA, Retinol and Kinetin are the three most popular
and highly used ingredients in anti aging creams. So when you
shop for creams that claim to smooth over or reduce skin
wrinkles, first verify the ingredients before you purchase
them. Your skin will thank you.
Results of any particular product will vary from user to
user, and a good strategy would be to try several different
brands before settling on one that works best for you.
Anti-aging creams aside, the two most effective things you
can do to slow down the appearance of wrinkles is
not.

SUN

sure way to bring on wrinkled skin before its time. so use the
