COMMON STRESS MYTHS
There are many myths that have been passed down over the
years. We hope we can dispel some of them here.
Myth 1:
Suffering from stress is a sign of
weakness
This is completely wrong. This is
borne from a bygone era workplace culture. Where employees were
fearful that any signs of stress were symptomatic of not being
able to cope.
The medical facts are that everyone will suffer from stress
at some point in their life. It all depends on the
circumstances we are in at that time and how we manage the
stress.
Myth
2: Stress is good for
you
This is wrong. This is a very common
misconception. Whilst stress can in fact be a good motivator
for example the feeling you get as you stand on the starting
line of a race. This acts as a boost to our bodies systems to
power up the body.
But the fact is long term stress is harmful and can be
the trigger of many illnesses.
Myth 3:
Stress only affects lazy
people
This is completely
wrong. There is no foundation to this at
all. We all react differently to situations in
life.
Our personal outlooks
differ between us all, for instance the glass can be
either half full or half empty. Like wise our reactions
to situations are not all the same. To some a situation
or task could be challenging and to others stressful. So
stress affects each and everyone of us but we all react
differently to each and every life
event.
Myth 4:
Stress makes you
infertile
Mostly
wrong. Only in rare cases has this been found to
be true.
The reality is that couples
who are wanting to conceive are put under great pressure.
From parents who are constantly seeking news that a new
member of the family is on it's way. But also from the
couple themselves when they are not immediately
successful. This added stress can upset the woman's
ovulation and has been known to reduce the men's sperm
production. The best treatment in this case is to undergo
stress reducing therapy.
Myth 5:
Stress relief is best with counseling
Wrong. For some
individuals counseling is the best approach to reduce stress,
but for other it is not.
There are many differing treatments for stress all of which
have their own unique benefits that suit sufferers of stress.
From alternative therapies such as the Stress Drip containing
high doses of superior quality vitamins trace minerals,
tryptophan and inositol (which induce calming and relaxation)
and the antioxidant glutathione. This is administered
intravenously. Through to conventional treatment such as
administering drugs.
Reducing the stress we have in
our lives can help us to manage our lives more
effectively. How can we reduce this stress, simply by
reviewing our life's and its potential problems, solutions
and resources.
If you are, an ordinary family
then you will have a home, car, job, children, pets, family,
ageing parents and a number of other related
responsibilities.

HOW DOES STRESS AFFECT
HEALTH
No, not all stress is
bad. A certain amount of stress or pressure as we said is
necessary and will show a positive adaptation being made
by the person.
But bad or negative stress is
not good for us and this is called distress.
There are three degrees of
stress: Low, optimum and high.
Low stress:
This is distress leading to boredom, fatigue, frustration, or
dissatisfaction.
Optimum
stress: This is eustress (eustress is
a positive form of stress, usually related to desirable events
in person's life) leading to creativity, problem solving,
progress, change, learning, and energetic
satisfaction.
High stress:
Esteem and irrational problem solving.
